The Friday Mixtape Tribute - RIP Frankie Knuckles April 04 2014, 0 Comments

A very special Seventyseven Friday Mixtape this week as we pay tribute to music legend Frankie Knuckles who sadly passed away this week.

Here we proudly present a classic 2013 live DJ set from the Kingdom Nightclub, Texas courtesy of Resident Advisor for your enjoyment...

Few contemporary music figures have influenced their respective fields the way Frankie Knuckles - the man most commonly known as the ‘Godfather of House Music’ - has revolutionized dance music.

Playing a pivotal role in the creation & evolution of House music - ‘disco's revenge’ was the way Frankie Knuckles mischievously described the pioneering style of music that was born in the late 70’s at the famous Warehouse Club in Chicago. It was a raw, machine-driven, four-to-the-floor sound that Knuckles helped shape, that went on to become a huge force in popular music over the next 30 years.

Blasting energy throughout dance clubs worldwide and becoming one of the most sought after re-mixers in music Frankie went on to work with some of the biggest names in music - including Michael Jackson, Chaka Khan, Diana Ross and even found a fan in Barack Obama.
